Hi Promet Team!
A few of us have been working on an internal project called 611connect.com. We created this site to be destination for people to learn, review and purchase cell phones and wireless services. We have been steadily building a sizable database of phones on the site. Now that the site has matured, we would like to focus our attention on adding more original content to improve our search engine optimization. As many of you know, Google rewards websites that have unique content and punishes others that have duplicate or copied content.
Since adding original content is a major effort, Andy and TJ have decided to initiate a contest (with CASH PRIZES) to encourage Promet team members (if you have a friend or family member that wants to participate, this can be accommodated by discussing with Matt) to help improve our site and search results. The contest will be organized as follows:
1. Participants can choose up to 3 UNIQUE cell phones on the site to add original content and promote online.
a. (Friends and family of Promet team members can also participate!)
2. Responsibilities will include:
a. Re-write and optimize the phone description.
b. Encourage friends and/or family to write reviews and rate the phone on the page(s).
c. Write blog entries that relate to your cell phone(s).
d. Although we recognize link building is an important part of generating traffic, you can only use link building sites we approve. (Must be approved by Matt prior to submission)
Please Note: There cannot be ANY copied content used in the contest. Obviously, it is illegal and Google penalizes websites that have duplicate content. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
5 prizes will be awarded!
The top phone pages will receive the following cash prizes.
First – $150
Second – $125
Third – $100
Phone pages will be evaluated by the total number of unique visitors over the duration of the contest.
A fourth prize will be awarded to the person who totals the highest number of cumulative unique visitors across all three of their phones. – $75
Finally, a fifth prize will be awarded to an individual simply based on effort and creativity. – $75
Other incentives throughout the duration of the contest include:
1. You will receive a Google Adsense ID and all Google Adsense revenue generated on your page during the contest period will be yours to keep.
2. If a user buys one of your phones through our affiliates, you will receive $30 dollars commission per phone.
I will be supervising this initiative, so please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. If you are interested in participating, please email me the phone(s) you would like to manage. (Phones will be assigned first come first served!)
Deadline for Phone Selection will be September 17th. The contest will end December 17th. Once you have signed up for the contest, you will receive further instructions and ideas on how you can proceed.

John Ross has been a great help to 611Connect team. Matt was really pleased to have worked with him on this project.
He he has always been very responsive to my tickets and helpful when I ping him on IM. I think he has been an importnat member of our 611Connect team.

WordCamp Philippines 2008

Last Saturday, September 6, 2008 Rachel and I (Junelle) attended the first WordCamp in the Philippines. The event was free, but it was really fruitful. We absorbed everything we could, from WordPress to be used as Blogging, SEO to making it a CMS.
Rachel was able to learn how to make plugins to be used in WordPress.
We get to meet a lot of VIP’s online, but the best of it all we were able to have our picture taken, together with the father of WordPress Matt Mullenweg.
Matt had given us a preview of WordPress 2.7. A drag and drop option to customize your dashboard to your preferred layout. They have done a pretty good doing it and currently they are working on the security of WordPress to be implemented in the future.
For now, I am already excited for the WordPress 2.7 that is going to be launched on November this year.
